Voices of the North is a vibrant and inspiring monologue slam hosted by Noisy Cow Theatre Co that showcases the talent, grit, and resounding character of Northern creatives with a fun, competitive twist.

Bringing together emerging and established performers from across the region, this event celebrates the power of storytelling and a stage alive with possibility. Sharp-witted comedy, heartfelt narratives, Societal reflections, Drama, and tender narratives capture a slice of Northern life.

Displaying the beauty and passion in narratives from across time - from finding our own struggles reflected in the tragedies of Ancient Greece, to Shakespeare's tales linked within our own region. Not to forget, brand new, never seen before writing right from the heart of Yorkshire. The night champions the North's unmistakable humour, resilience, and cultural richness, shining a light on voices often overlooked but impossible to ignore. A huge congratulations to our very deserving winner Ann Morgan, who blew everyone away with her piece ‘Fairweather Friend’. It is safe to say that, thanks to Ann, we will be careful to not fall in any trenches, embrace the ever-changing British weather and keep on laughing!

We’d also like to celebrate our fabulous runner-up, the wonderful Mary-Frances Doherty, who, armed with a sparkly pink toilet brush and a bottle of God-knows-what, took us on an emotional journey with her piece, ‘The Reunion’.
