The Nutcracker - Left Bank Leeds - 20/12, 2.30pm
Adapted by P.J Mullarkey, inspired by E.T.A Hoffman's classic novel
£14.00
This festive season, Noisy Cow Theatre Co are transforming another classic Christmas tale, adapted from Hoffman's beloved short story and Tchaikovsky's incredibly magical ballet.
When a nutcracker comes alive on Christmas Day, Clara is thrust into a world of sweet treats, rosy-faced dolls and daring fights against the Mouse King who haunts her at night. Though her family are disbelieving and dismiss her as a childish daydreamer, her godfather Drosselmeyer humours her with stories. As she learns of old curses and the Mouse King's tyranny, Clara and the Nutcracker must venture into the Land of the Dolls - racing from Christmas Forest and Gingerbreadham, all the way to Marzipan Castle to meet the Sugarplum Princess - to save the wonderful people they meet there from the Mouse's cruelty.
The Nutcracker is a heartwarming story about the courage of a young girl and the enduring power of childhood wonder. Noisy Cow blends it's signature style of puppetry, ensemble casting and physical theatre tp bring to life this well loved story in a brand new way. A show for the dreamer in all of us, reminding us that magic is always closer than it seems.
